Extracurricular Classes That Inspire & Engage

At Intiwasi, learning doesn’t end when the school day does. Our diverse extracurricular programs, from sports and dance to music, cooking, art, and more, give children the chance to explore their passions, build confidence, and develop new skills, including Spanish, in a joyful, supportive environment. As a PYP candidate school, we design classes that spark curiosity, creativity, and balance, helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Winter Class Schedule

Mondays: Baking

Baking: Winter Wellness Treats 

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15

Session length: 45 min

Cost: $250  (10 week session)

Ages: 2+ grouped by age

Language: Spanish 

In this fun and flavorful cooking series, children explore winter-friendly treats inspired by cuisines from around the world, all no-bake, nut-free, and designed with young chefs in mind. Each week, students prepare a simple international recipe while practicing sensory exploration, measuring, mixing, fine motor skills, and healthy eating habits.

Younger children (2–3) focus 

This class celebrates culture, creativity, and global flavors in a safe, joyful, hands-on kitchen environment.

Monday: Chess 

Unlock Your Child's Potential with Story Time Chess

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15.                  Session length: 45 min

Cost: $280 (10 week Session).    Ages: 2 + grouped by age & level

Language: English

Our students completed their first Chess cycle using Storytime Chess, a playful and engaging program that teaches strategy through storytelling, imagination, and hands-on play. Over the first series, they met the characters of Chesslandia and mastered the basic movements of every piece, learned how to recognize safe and danger squares, and successfully played their first full games through “Capture the King.”
They also began exploring early opening principles through the Secret Missions series.

For this next cycle, students will continue in Beginning Level – Part 2, strengthening their foundation while gradually moving toward more formal gameplay. This class builds on what they already know and introduces the next essential skills young players need to become confident, strategic thinkers.

Tuesday: Financial Literacy

Financial Friends: AI-Enhanced Financial Capability Program

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:15- Starts on January 23rd

Session length: 45 min.     Cost: $360 - 16 sessions (8 weeks)                 

Ages: 4 +.                                 Language: English

In Financial Literacy & AI Lab, students build strong money habits through hands-on, real-world experiences designed especially for young learners. Guided by educator and children’s author Sarae, students learn how to recognize money, make thoughtful spending choices, save toward goals, and understand the difference between wants and needs, all while actively practicing these skills in a classroom setting.

What makes this class unique is its focus on financial capability, not just financial knowledge. Students don’t simply talk about money, they handle money, make decisions, experience trade-offs, and reflect on their choices. Age-appropriate AI tools are thoughtfully introduced to support learning, comparison shopping, goal-setting, and decision-making in a safe and engaging way.

Research shows that financial habits begin forming as early as age 3 and are largely set by age 7. This program is intentionally designed to support healthy financial attitudes, behaviors, and confidence at a critical developmental stage, while also introducing children to emerging technologies like AI in a responsible and accessible way.

Tuesday: Gymnastics

Gymnastics: Build Stability & Coordination

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15          Session length: 45 min

Our gymnastics class builds a strong foundation for physical development in a safe, supportive, and playful environment. Through engaging activities, children develop stability, movement, and coordination while having a blast!

The class is progressive, with Ms. Lisa adapting activities to match each child’s skill level, ensuring continuous growth and fun.

WEDNESDAY: Desing Lab

Exploring Wind & Air- STEAM

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15              Session length: 45 min

Cost: $300 -12 weeks.               Ages: 3+              Language: Spanish 

In our Wind & Air Design Lab, students become engineers and designers as they explore the invisible power of air. Through hands-on building, testing, and redesigning, children discover how wind can move, lift, spin, and create sound.

Each week builds on the last as students design wind-powered creations such as pinwheels, wind tunnels, flying structures, sound instruments, and protective shelters. Using the engineering design process, children learn to plan, test, improve, and explain their ideas in a playful and developmentally appropriate way.

Projects are thoughtfully adapted for preschool and elementary learners, allowing younger students to explore through sensory play and building, while older students dive deeper into problem-solving, measurement, and design refinement. This class nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence, while strengthening critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world STEAM skills.

WEDNESDAY: Global Art Studio

A DELICIOUS EXPERIENCE

In our global art studio class, students travel the globe through art, exploring one country each week while building artistic skills step by step. From colorful textiles and geometric patterns to expressive painting and mixed-media design, children discover how artists around the world use art to tell stories, celebrate culture, and express ideas.

Each class follows a consistent studio routine that helps children feel confident and creative. Projects are thoughtfully adapted for preschool and elementary learners, allowing younger artists to explore materials and process, while older students develop technique, planning, and reflection skills.

Thursday: Ritmo Explorers

Creative fall art adventures

Schedule: 3:30                    Session length: 45 min

Cost: $420.                           Ages: 4+

Language: Spanish 

Is a continuation class for students ready to build on the rhythms, skills, and musical foundations learned previously. Children deepen their understanding of rhythm through joyful group drumming, movement, and musical games inspired by the rich traditions of Latin America.

Led by Profe Guido, an experienced bilingual (English/Spanish) musician and educator, this class emphasizes listening, coordination, and collaboration. Students explore instruments such as the cajón, bombo, shakers, and more, while learning increasingly complex rhythmic patterns and ensemble play.

Through repetition and progression, children strengthen timing, musical confidence, and expressive movement, bringing Latin American rhythms to life in a fun, supportive environment.

Thursday: Play The World

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15.        Session length: 45 min

Cost: $300 12 weeks                         Ages: 2+ grouped by age

Language: Spanish 

In Play the World, students explore how children around the globe play, move, and connect through games. Each week, students discover a new country and learn traditional and modern games that build coordination, teamwork, and joyful movement.

Classes emphasize active play, cooperation, and fair play, helping children develop gross motor skills, confidence, and social awareness in a fun and supportive environment. Games are thoughtfully adapted for preschool and elementary learners, allowing younger students to focus on movement and turn-taking while older students explore strategy, rules, and leadership.

By the end of the session, students participate in a World Games Celebration, revisiting favorite games and sharing what they learned about play and culture around the world.

Friday: DIY Wellness Lab

Colorful Soap Bars

Intro to Ballet for Girls: Grace, Strength, and Confidence

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15          Session length: 45 min.  

Cost: $ 225- 9 weeks              Ages: 3+

Language: Spanish 

In DIY Wellness Products Lab, students become makers as they create their own natural self-care products such as bath bombs, body scrubs, lip balms, and calming sprays. Each week, children explore simple, safe ingredients and learn how everyday wellness products are made through hands-on, guided projects.

Classes are designed to support mindfulness, creativity, and independence in a calm and engaging environment. All activities use nut-free, no-heat, age-appropriate materials, with thoughtful adaptations for both preschool and elementary students.

Friday: Ballet

Intro to Ballet for Girls: Grace, Strength, and Confidence

Schedule: 3:30 or 4:15          Session length: 45 min.  

Cost: $ 225- 9 weeks              Ages: 3+

Our beginner ballet class introduces young dancers to the world of ballet in a fun, supportive environment. Over 13 engaging sessions, students explore ballet’s history, posture, alignment, and essential movements like foot positions, arm placements, barre exercises, and simple pirouettes. Girls develop balance, coordination, musicality, and artistic expression while learning choreography that combines all the skills they’ve mastered. By the end of the course, students will gain confidence, grace, and a strong foundation in classical ballet techniques.

Friday: Salsa

Rhythm, Movement & Cultural Joy

Schedule: 3:30                      Session length: 45 min.  

Cost: $ 225- 9 weeks              Ages: 3+

Language: Spanish 

In Salsa Kids, children explore the joy of movement through the vibrant rhythms of salsa music. Designed for children ages 4 and up, this class introduces basic salsa steps, rhythm, and coordination in a playful, supportive environment.

Through music, movement games, and simple choreography, students build balance, coordination, listening skills, and confidence—while learning about the cultural roots of salsa. Classes are developmentally appropriate, energetic, and fun, encouraging children to express themselves through dance while moving their bodies with purpose and joy.
