About the event

Black Heritage Month: Afro-Latin Family Dance Experience

Celebrate Black Heritage Month with rhythm, movement, and community.

Join us for an interactive Afro-Latin dance class led by professional dancer Nadia Calmet, specializing in the music and movement of the African diaspora in Latin America.

This 1.5-hour experience is designed for children ages 4 and up, and parents are encouraged to dance alongside them.

Together, we will:

• Move to the rhythms of salsa, bachata, merengue, and more

• Explore the African roots of Latin music

• Experience how culture is carried through movement

• Celebrate joy, resilience, and connection

This is not a performance to watch

it’s a class to participate in.

After dancing, families are invited to stay and enjoy light refreshments together.

At Intiwasi, culture is not just studied. It is lived.
