Ballet
Preschool & Elementary Options
This beginner ballet course offers a structured and supportive introduction to the beautiful world of ballet. Through 15 classes, students will explore ballet’s history, essential techniques, and artistic expression in a friendly studio environment.
Weeks 1-3: Start with the basics of ballet posture, alignment, and footwork, where students get comfortable in the studio and learn fundamental positions.
Weeks 4-6: Build on foundational skills with arm and barre work, establishing strength, control, and elegant lines.
Weeks 7-9: Dive into center work, jumps, and turns, introducing balance, elevation, and the thrill of pirouettes.
Weeks 10-12: Focus on expression, musicality, and adagio and allegro techniques, bringing together rhythm and grace in dance.
Weeks 13-15: Rehearse and perform a simple choreography, allowing students to showcase the techniques they’ve learned in a final presentation for family and friends.
Throughout the course, students will build confidence, discipline, and joy in movement, concluding with a special performance to celebrate their progress.
Ms. Uriana brings over eight years of ballet experience from her homeland, Venezuela, where she mastered ballet fundamentals and performed in numerous productions. Her love for dance extends beyond ballet, as her passion led her to explore other genres like flamenco. With her rich background and dedication, Ms. Uriana inspires her students to embrace the beauty and discipline of dance.

Enter Chesslandia, where silly stories, colorful characters, and captivating games get kids learning and loving chess in no time. Students learn how each chess piece moves, one captivating story at a time. With the help of King Chomper and King Shaky, kids will learn piece safety, threat assessment, strategy and gameplay competence.

Flamenco
Preschool & Elementary Options
This flamenco class series offers an immersive experience into the rich world of flamenco dance. Beginning with an introduction to its cultural roots, students will explore the basics of rhythm (compás), posture, and flamenco styles (palos). Each session builds progressively, from mastering essential posture and footwork (zapateado) to learning hand and arm movements, clapping techniques (palmas), and flamenco rhythms like 4/4 and 12-beat cycles.
Throughout, students will learn to incorporate these skills into short choreographies in popular styles such as tangos and sevillanas. They’ll also practice improvisation, experience the spirit of duende (the emotional essence of flamenco), and have fun with castanets and jaleos (vocal expressions). The course culminates in a final presentation, where students perform with the confidence, rhythm, and expressive power they’ve developed. Perfect for both beginners and those looking to deepen their connection to this beautiful dance form.

Gymnastics
Preschool & Elementary Options
In this dynamic class, students explore foundational gymnastics skills and build confidence in movement. Through fun activities, they’ll learn essential body shapes like tuck, pike, straddle, and star, incorporating stretching for flexibility and control. Skills like rolling forward and backward, along with jumps from blocks and onto targets, introduce balance and coordination, while practice on cheese mats develops comfort with forward and backward rolls.
Handstand basics and balance exercises on beams and foam blocks boost body awareness and stability. On the bars, students will practice hanging, tuck holds, “skin the cat” exercises, and pull-ups. The class finishes with an exciting obstacle course, combining everything they’ve learned for a full-body movement adventure.
Notes: This class is progressive as students master skills Ms. Lisa will adapt the class to higher difficulty levels.
Ms. Lisa brings a wealth of expertise and passion to her gymnastics classes, with over a decade of coaching experience and certifications from British Gymnastics. A former competitive gymnast herself, she has coached and choreographed routines for young gymnasts, helping them build skills and confidence. With her background in both gymnastics and fitness training through her own business, Fitness 4 Life, Ms. Lisa creates a fun, supportive environment for students of all ages to explore movement, master new skills, and find joy in fitness. Her classes blend technical skill-building with positive energy, inspiring each child to reach their fullest potential in gymnastics.

Soccer

This engaging class, students will connect with each other through fun, soccer-based activities and learn the fundamentals of soccer. The course begins with simple drills like passing, dribbling, and ball-handling exercises that promote teamwork and communication. Students will introduce themselves and share fun facts, helping create a friendly and supportive environment.
Through targeted exercises, students will build flexibility, coordination, and agility while practicing foundational skills, such as kicking with precision, dribbling in patterns, and lateral movements. Activities focus on improving psychomotor skills, including jumping, rolling, and spinning, essential for developing balance and control on the field.
As the course progresses, students will familiarize themselves with basic soccer positions and roles, allowing them to apply their skills in team-based settings. The class concludes with a friendly soccer game, providing an opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned and build confidence in a supportive team environment.
Mr. Ioska studied physical education in his home country of Colombia, where he learned the core fundamentals of sports and fitness. Soccer has always been his passion, and since moving to Los Angeles, he’s stayed connected to the game by working as both a coach and a referee at local matches. Mr. Ioska brings his love for soccer and his experience to each practice, helping young players develop their skills and excitement for the game.

Set sail on a math-filled treasure hunt that teaches kids to play one of the world’s most beloved strategy games, backgammon! In this dynamic, hands-on class, Ms. Ximena invites young artists to dive into the world of art using a wide variety of materials and techniques. In Messy Art Explorers, we believe that art is about the process, not just the product! Children will have the freedom to express themselves, experiment, and get messy—all while building confidence, fine motor skills, and a love for creativity.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Ms. Ximena is a passionate educator who brings creativity and joy to every class she leads at Intiwasi. Throughout her time with us, she has worked with children of all ages, from toddlers to early elementary, fostering a love of learning through hands-on exploration.
One of her favorite roles has been leading Mommy and Me classes, where she developed multisensory art projects that encouraged children and parents to bond through creativity. Her deep love for art inspires her to continuously seek new ways to integrate artistic exploration into her teaching, making each class a unique and engaging experience for every child.
