About the event
Join us for an incredible morning as the Intiwasi School community comes together to honor Black Heritage Month. This collaborative event, hosted alongside our wonderful parent volunteers, will feature:
Student & Presentations: Dynamic showcases from students who want to take the challenge to present in front of the whole school!
Everyday Icons: A special presentation on Black inventors behind the items we use every day.
The History of Soul Food: A featured talk by Chef Cleshay Johnson, a professional soul food chef, who will share the rich history behind these iconic dishes.
A Special Invitation to Families We invite all families to join us for this celebration! A huge thank you to Ingrid, Tatiana, and Cleshay for their leadership in making this moment possible and to all families who are cooking or sharing their love for soul food with our students.
Community Potluck & Call for Volunteers We are looking for families to contribute to our soul food tasting. We are currently preparing:
Mains & Sides: Mac and cheese, candied yams, collard greens, black-eyed pea fritters, fried chicken strips, and cornbread.
Desserts: Banana pudding and ice cream.
We Need Your Help:
Vegan Options: We are specifically looking for more vegan soul food items to ensure everyone can participate.
Large Trays: We need one large tray of each item. Since we are opening this to the whole school, doubling up on items is encouraged to help reduce the workload for any single family.
Share Your Heart: If you have a special recipe that "warms your soul," please reach out.
How to Sign Up: Please communicate with Tatiana Logan via the Playground app to coordinate your contribution.
